Vinted Reselling: How to Start and Make Money in 2026

Vinted reselling means buying clothes (or other items) for less than they sell for on Vinted, then relisting them for a profit. Most of the money is made when you buy, not when you sell. If you pay too much, no amount of good photos will save the flip.

This guide covers how to start: what sells, where to find stock, how to price and list, and the rules you need to know.

Is Vinted reselling worth it?

It can be, as a side income. Vinted has a huge buyer base in the UK and Europe, and private sellers don’t pay a selling fee. Buyers pay a Buyer Protection fee on top of the price instead, so you keep the full sale price.

The trade-off is that margins on clothes are small per item. A typical flip makes £5 to £30. To earn a few hundred pounds a month, you need volume, a niche you know well, and a quick way to source stock.

1. Pick a niche you can judge

Start with clothes you already know. You’ll spot fakes, bad sizing, and bargains much faster.

Brands that resell reliably on Vinted include:

Kids’ clothing bundles and high-street womenswear sell too, but prices are lower, so they suit volume sellers.

2. Find stock below what it sells for

These are the most common sources:

SourceWhy it worksWatch out for
Charity shopsCheap, steady supplyMany now price branded items higher
Car boot salesLowest prices, room to haggleEarly starts, hit and miss
Vinted itselfUnderpriced or badly listed itemsOther resellers are looking too
eBay job lotsBulk at a low price per itemPhotos can hide damage and fakes

Buying on Vinted to resell on Vinted

This is the most overlooked source. Plenty of sellers clear out wardrobes quickly. They price low, use one dark photo, and write titles like “jacket” with no brand. You can buy those items, photograph and describe them properly, and relist them for more.

The catch is speed. A £12 Carhartt jacket gets bought within minutes. Flipify watches Vinted for your searches (brand, size, and price range) and sends a push notification when a new match appears. Premium watchlists check every minute. Our guide to instant Vinted notifications shows how to set up searches that catch these listings.

Be careful with “supplier packs”

Lots of people sell supplier lists and starter kits for Vinted reselling. Some are useful, but many point to wholesale bundles that other resellers have already picked through. Check reviews, start small, and work out the cost per item before you buy a large bundle.

3. Check what it actually sells for

Asking prices tell you what sellers hope for. You want to know what buyers actually pay.

4. Work out your profit

Count every cost before you buy:

Sale price − what you paid − supplies − travel = profit

The buyer pays postage and the Buyer Protection fee, so they don’t come out of your sale price. Here’s an example:

ItemAmount
Sale price on Vinted£35
What you paid (charity shop)−£8
Poly mailer−£0.30
Profit£26.70

If you pay to promote listings with Bumps or Wardrobe Spotlight, count that too. Our guide to calculating profit margins goes into more detail.

5. List it so it sells

6. Price it and handle offers

Price just above where you’re happy to sell, because most Vinted buyers make an offer. Turn on bundle discounts, so buyers who like one item add a second.

If something doesn’t sell within two or three weeks, lower the price. Vinted notifies people who have favourited an item when its price drops. For more, read our guide on pricing items for resale.

7. Post quickly and keep records

When an item sells, Vinted gives you a prepaid label for the courier the buyer picked. Pack it well and drop it off quickly, because fast postage leads to good reviews.

Keep a simple spreadsheet with what you paid, the sale price, and the date. You’ll need it for tax, and it shows which brands make you the most.

Vinted’s rules and tax

Vinted Pro. Vinted’s standard accounts are for private individuals. If you buy items to resell as a business, Vinted expects you to use a Vinted Pro account. Read Vinted’s current terms before you scale up.

HMRC. Since 2024, platforms like Vinted report sellers to HMRC once they make 30 or more sales, or earn roughly £1,700 or more, in a year. Being reported doesn’t mean you owe tax. Selling your own unwanted clothes for less than you paid usually isn’t taxable. Buying items to resell for profit is trading, though. The £1,000 trading allowance covers small amounts, and above that you’ll need to register for Self Assessment. Our reseller taxes guide explains the basics. Check with HMRC or an accountant if you’re unsure.
